Summer 2025

It's been an exciting and busy summer for Literacy is Lit!

In August I was awarded a microgrant from the Karma 4 Cara Foundation. This grant will allow me to supply brand new high-quality books, along with shelving units, to eight local food pantries, reaching people in vulnerable communities who are affected by food insecurity and children who are susceptible to illiteracy. I am currently working on rolling out this initiative with my Literacy Leaders. 

I'm also thrilled to be chosen as a recipient of the Daily Points of Light Award for my service work through Literacy Is Lit. Founded by former President George H.W. Bush,

the Daily Points of Light community service award celebrates the power of individuals to lead and lend support to causes they care about, honoring those who are changing the world.
